About
I’m a Senior BI Developer working as a contractor for a major Swiss bank. I’ve been working with data since 2008, and over the years it has grown from a profession into a genuine passion.
My work focuses primarily on the backend of data platforms, spanning data engineering and applied data science. I spend most of my time with SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric, designing reliable, automated, and scalable data solutions. Language‑wise, I’m most at home with T‑SQL, Python, PySpark, SparkSQL, PowerShell, and R.
Automation is a recurring theme in my work. During my years working extensively with SQL Server, I built and maintained automated database and VM environments using PowerShell. If you work in this space and haven’t explored dbatools yet, I highly recommend taking a look.
I’m a Microsoft MVP, a public speaker, and an active community organizer. I lead the Azure Data User Group data TGIF and I’m one of the organizers behind DATA BASH. I’m also involved with the Data Platform Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Virtual Group, supporting a more inclusive and diverse data community.
I also write regularly about data, engineering, and analytics — here on this blog, on Substack, and as a LinkedIn newsletter. Sharing knowledge, discussing code, and visualizing data are some of my favorite ways to contribute to the community.
On a more personal note, I’m married and live in Zurich, Switzerland. My wife and I are avid travelers, always curious to explore new cultures, perspectives, and ideas — a mindset that naturally carries over into my professional life.
